Thomas J. Briggs

Thomas J. Briggs, 85, of Frankfort, died at 11:23 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at the Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe. He was born on Wednesday, July 7, 1937, in Ross County, the son of the late Jesse C. and Elizabeth Jamison Briggs. On February 28, 1969, he married the former Betty J. Wolfe.       

He is survived by his wife, Betty, their two sons: James (Katrina) Briggs of Washington C.H. and Joseph (Kimberly) Briggs of Leesburg, two grandchildren: James (Kaitlin) Briggs and Samantha Wight, two great-grandchildren: Reagan Joy Briggs and Alexander Wight-Mettler as well as several nieces and nephews. Tom is preceded in death by his three sisters: Wilda Pappas, Evelyn Shultz and Charlotte Wood and his three brothers: James Dudley Briggs, Albert Briggs and Robert Briggs.

Tom was a 1956 graduate of the Frankfort High School. He served his country in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War in the VMFA 542 Squadron as a F-4 Phantom mechanic. Tom retired from DuPont Company in Circleville following thirty years of service. He was a member of the Joseph Ellsworth White Post 483 – American Legion.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022, at 1 p.m. in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort with his niece, Barbara Wood Salyers officiating. Tom will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort with military honors. Family and friends may visit with Tom’s family on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
