Steven C. Smith, 74, died peacefully after a battle with Parkinson 's disease on February 19, 2026 at Violet Springs Health Campus in Pickerington, Ohio. He was born on August 27, 1951 to the late Norman and Marguerite Norris Smith. On March 4, 1977, he married Judy Tennant, who passed away on June 10, 2016.
He is survived by his son Mark of South Webster, and two grandsons Dane and Carson Smith; two sisters, Sharon (Gary) Green of Euclid, Dee (Robin) Hand of Chillicothe, and one brother Stan (Diane) Smith of Pickerington. He was blessed to have several nieces and nephews in his life. They loved Uncle Steve very much.
Steve was a 1971 graduate of Adena High School. He went to work for the Budd Company in Frankfort when it first opened; he worked there for 27 years until it closed. Steve then worked for the Concord Township Trustees and drove a bus for the Pioneer Center, a job he truly loved. Steve and Judy were both very active in the Ross County 4-H program, where Steve served as superintendent of the Goat Barn. He helped many young 4-H kids with their projects. They all knew Steve would help and encourage them in any way he could. Steve also served many years as a volunteer EMT for the Concord Township Emergency Squad. He was a 25-year member of the Lions Club and volunteered at the Good Samaritan Food Bank. His neighbors, friends, and community will remember Steve as a very hard worker and he never hesitated to help others in need. He grew up on Owl Creek Road and he and Judy later built a beautiful home there. He downsized in 2018 to a home in North Fork Village. He could often be seen walking his dog Frank or cruising around in his red golf cart.
Steve was a lifelong member of the Frankfort Presbyterian Church. It was there that his faith in Jesus began. He continued to grow in his faith and now lives eternally in heaven with his Savior.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 25th at 11:00 a.m. at the Ebright Funeral Home in Frankfort with Todd Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort beside his wife, Judy. Friends may visit with Steve's family on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Ebright Funeral Home.
