Shirley Mae Sparks, 85, of Greenfield, died at St. Catherine’s Manor in Washington C.H. on Sunday, November 21, 2021. She was born on Monday, April 6, 1936, in Highland County, the daughter of the late Guy and Emma Younker Hilterbrand. She married Robert Sparks on October 25, 1957. He preceded her in death on June 5, 1976.
She is survived by two daughters, Roberta Hollar of South Salem, Nora (Greg) Coleman of Greenfield, two sons, David (Eldeana) Sparks and Gary (Kathy) Sparks all of Greenfield. ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Natasha Sparks, one son-in-law, Kevin Hollar, one sister and one brother.
Shirley was a 1954 graduate of the Edward Lee McClain High School. She retired from Greenfield Research in 2008 after thirty years of service. She was a life long member of the First Baptist Church in Greenfield where she was a member of the Helen Barrett Missionary Circle. She had been a volunteer at the Greenfield Christian Center.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2021 in the Greenfield First Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Stokes officiating. Following the service, Shirley will be laid to rest beside her husband in Walnut Creek Cemetery. Family and friends may visit with Shirley’s family on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Greenfield First Baptist Church, 250 Lafeyette St., Greenfield, OH 45123. The Anderson – Ebright Funeral Home, Greenfield, is serving the family.
