Sarah Mills passed from this life on May 24th, 2026, at her home. Sarah was born on August 19, 1934, to Alfred and Blanche Hartman in Palmyra, Pennsylvania. She lived a long life surrounded by family and was known especially for her kindness, her Scrabble skills, her cooking, and the love she showed to those closest to her.
On September 5, 1952, she married Paul William Mills. Together they built a family that would grow to span several generations. In addition to her parents, her beloved husband, Paul, and most of her sisters and brothers preceded her in death.
Sarah was especially known for the care she poured into her home and family. She was a wonderful cook whose chicken corn noodle soup, stuffed peppers, and impossible pie became family favorites and lasting memories for those who gathered around her table. She also had a special tradition of making a baby blanket for each of her great-grandchildren when they were born, a gift that symbolized her love and devotion to the next generation of the family.
She was blessed with a large and growing family. Sarah had five children: Paul (Laura) Mills, Susan (Fred) Martin, Tamela (Bill) Stoutt, Timothy (Lynn) Mills, and Eric (Jennifer) Mills. Sarah had ten grandchildren: Lexi, Brandon, Billy, Steven, Charity, Brett, Dane, Chris, Gage, and Logan. Through them, her family continued to grow to include seventeen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her sister, Bonnie (Lenny) Gibble, as well as her children, nieces, nephews, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her memory and the love she gave to all of them.
Sarah’s life was defined by devotion to God, family, and the traditions she created that will continue to live on through those who knew and loved her. She will be missed, in so many ways, but thanks be to God on behalf of those that were blessed to have her in our lives.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm Friday, May 29, 2026, at the Smith-Moore-Ebright Funeral, Bainbridge. Friends may call from 12 pm until 2 pm on Friday. Cremation will take place and Sarah will later be interred beside her husband Paul in the Bainbridge Cemetery.
