Samuel Eugene Tackett

Samuel Eugene Tackett 68 of Hillsboro passed from this life Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born May 17, 1955, in Romulus, Michigan the son of the late Thomas E. and Edna Mae (Morris) Tackett. On February 26, 1977, he married his wife of 46 years, Norma Jean Lowman, who survives.  

He is also survived by his children Tabitha (Joseph) Brown and Teresa (Ronald) Barnett; grandchildren Madeline (Kyle) Hatfield, Kaitlynn Barnett and Alexis Brown; great granddaughter Ada Mae Hatfield; sisters Doris Ann Crabtree and Kay Kuhn; brothers Russell (Diane) Tackett and David (Carol) Tackett and several nieces, nephews and friends including his friend and brother-in-law Sturgil Lowman.

In addition to his parents Sam was preceded in death by his siblings Bertha Perkins, Gladys Tackett, Mary Knisley and Thomas Tackett.

Sam was a truck driver most of his life and loved the outdoors especially fishing, working on cars and fixing things. Sam took pride in his home and yard. He loved being a truck driver and logging. Sam was a loving husband and father of twin girls but he thoroughly loved his grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Noon on Friday, June 16, 2023, at the Smith-Moore-Ebright Funeral Home of Bainbridge with Rev. John Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in the Bainbridge Cemetery. Friends may visit with Sam’s family from 10 am until 12 pm at the funeral home.
