Ruby Mae Butler

January 21, 1928 — April 12, 2026

Ruby Mae Forcum Butler, 98 years old, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at 11:15 p.m. She was born on Saturday, January 21, 1928 to the late Zennie and Daisy Trenner Forcum.

She graduated from Frankfort High School in 1947. She then married Robert (Bob) Butler. They were blessed with three children; Gary W. Butler, Sharon R. (Danny) Bowdle and Cathy L. Sparks, four grandchildren; Stacey (Bobby) Peters, Jamie (Amanda) Bowdle, Sarah and Mackenzie Sparks and three great-grandchildren; Caitlin Peters, Case Bowdle and Carson Bowdle. She was endowed with many nieces and nephews and she loved them all. She was preceded in death by her son, Gary Wayne Butler, her four brothers; Ernest, George, Kenny and Bob, her four sisters; Ruth Forcum Blazer, Louise Forcum Brown, Bernice Forcum DeTillion and Mary Ethel Forcum.

Ruby worked at many different jobs during her high school years, but her love was the Foundation of Family. Her most rewarding jobs were working with the elderly and youth. While working as a Supervisor at the Juvenile Detention Center she took a course in Criminal Justice and got her Associate Degree at Ohio University-Chillicothe. After retiring, she worked at the Valley View Nursing Home in activities. Being a Senior herself, she became a Senior Companion to many other seniors, driving them to their destinations.

Ruby was a member of the Frankfort and Dry Run Methodist Churches, where she helped with the Bible School and Youth Choir. In her later years, she rededicated her life at the Frankfort Baptist Church, where she became a member. She loved her church and the many people she met.

Ruby's family would like to thank the National Church Residence care teams at Hopeton Village, Hospice care team and the Traditions Nursing Home facility for taking care of their mother. A thank you is also extended to Pastor Paul Winks and his wife, Mary, for being there for us.

Her daughters are honoring Ruby's wishes that family and friends attend a graveside service on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Ruby's pastor, Paul Winks will officiate the service and following the service she will be laid to rest beside her son, Gary.
