Roger W. Wilburn, 68, of Clarksburg, died at his home on Wednesday evening, November 3, 2021, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on Monday, September 21, 1953, in Chillicothe, the son of the late Wayne and E. Jane Anderson Wilburn. On January 6, 1973, he married the former Pamela Cottrill who survives.
In addition to his devoted wife of 48 years, Roger is survived by three children, Eric (Ashley) Wilburn of Clarksburg, Emily (Jason) Grooms of Georgetown TX, Erin (Brady) Ratzlaff of Frankfort, eight grandchildren, Jackson, Hayden, and Scarlett Grooms, Mia, Ila, and Liv Wilburn, Braelyn and Evie Ratzlaff. Roger is also survived by one sister, Bobbie (Myron) Garrison of Frankfort, two brothers, Mike (Debbie) Wilburn of Frankfort, and Jarrod Wilburn, sister-in-law, Kathy (Bruce) Mees, brothers-in-law, Gregg Cottrill, and Paul (Vivian) Cottrill of Frankfort, and aunt, Kay Stockman of Chillicothe, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jay Wilburn, and one brother-in-law, Ernie Cottrill.
Roger was a 1971 graduate of Adena High School. He worked for CBI Industries for 42 years. During his career Roger helped to build water towers all over the United States. Roger retired in June 2013 as superintendent. He also had many blue bird houses in the area surrounding his home, and he enjoyed the hobby of bee keeping in his retirement. Roger always had a smile on his face, and he dearly loved his eight grandchildren.
Roger’s family would like to extend special thank yous to doctors Matthew Cosenza and Ted Teknos. If not for them, Roger could not have had the quality or length of life that he did. More special thank yous are also extended to Adena Hospice. Especially to their nurse, Jamie, and social worker, Kelly.
In keeping with Roger’s wishes cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort with Cameron Caseman officiating.
