Robert Cottrill

June 29, 1938 — January 16, 2023

Waverly

Robert Cottrill 84 of Waverly passed from this life Monday, January 16, 2023 at his home. He was born June 29, 1938 in Ross County to the late Carl W. and Nannie Gragg Cottrill. On September 12, 1958 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Mae Shoemaker who preceded him in death on March 4, 2016. They were married for 58 years and are now reunited eternally.

He is survived by two sons Wade (Donna) Cottrill of Chillicothe and Richard (Angela) Cottrill of Waverly; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; one brother, Lee Everett (Carol) Cottrill of Chillicothe; two sisters Linda Sizemore of WV and Jackie (Bud) Carle of Chillicothe; a special companion and exceptional caregiver with whom he lived, Debra Allan; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Bob was predeceased by his eldest son, Jeffrey Cottrill; sisters Alberta and Carol; brothers Jack, Billy, and Wayne.

His greatest joy was the outdoors: sitting on the front porch, feeding the birds, turtling, mushroom hunting, catching fish along the creek-banks and taking car rides to the Paint Creek Dam or the Amish Market.

Bob retired as a construction laborer with over 40 years in that trade and he was a faithful provider for his family.

The family is most grateful to God for affording Bob time to repent, to those who prayed for him, the NCR hospice team and staff for their timeless compassionate care, one special nurse April whom Bob really loved; and to those who took time to visit, send a card, bake a pie or drop off fresh garden vegetables.

In respect to Bobs wishes calling hours will not be observed and a private graveside service will be held in the Twin Township Cemetery at the family’s convenience.

The Smith-Moore-Ebright Funeral Home of Bainbridge is serving the family.
