Pastor Richard J. "Jerry" Caddell, 78, of Clarksburg, passed away peacefully and went to be with his Lord on Monday, October 20, 2025, at the Logan Elm Care Center, Circleville. Jerry was born Thursday, November 28, 1946, in Cincinnati, the second son of the late Jack and Margaret Louise Hackler Caddell. On May 4, 1968, Jerry married his wife of fifty-seven years, the former Cheryl Ann Lonsbery.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, their two daughters; Jaime Wirth of Springfield and Jessica (Kris) Dobyns of Coraopolis, PA, five grandchildren; Kyle McDade, Lily Wirth, Dalton Dobyns, Dawson Dobyns and Hudson Dobyns, three brothers; Thomas Caddell of Springfield, OH, Terry (Mary) Caddell of Ellicott City, MD and John (Carol) Caddell of Geneva, IL and two nieces, Katie and Margo.
Jerry graduated from Woodward High School in Cincinnati in 1964. He was a 1968 graduate of Alderson Broaddus College in Phillipi, WV. He later attended Wright State University and was a 1998 graduate. Jerry received his Masters's of Divinity from The United Theological Seminary in 2002. He retired in 2018 after faithfully serving the Lord as a pastor for twenty-three years. Jerry had served as the Pastor of the Clarksburg and Brown's Chapel United Methodist Churches. For years prior to being a pastor, Jerry taught music and band in multiple schools in West Virginia and Ohio. Following his retirement, Jerry loved to put on his hiking boots and pick up his walking stick and spend many hours hiking the trails of the Hocking Hills.
He was a member of the Clark County Amateur Radio Association and the Elmdale Grange.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Clarksburg United Methodist Church. Following the service, Jerry will be laid to rest in the Brown's Chapel Cemetery, Clarksburg. Calling hours will be held at the church on Saturday, November 8, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. The EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort is serving the family.
