Phyllis J. Rhoads

Phyllis J. Rhoads, 88, of Lakeland, FL, formerly of Greenfield, died on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Good Shepherd Lakeland Hospice House in Lakeland. She was born on Sunday, June 5, 1932 in Xenia, Ohio the daughter of the late Clarence David and Marie Bean Kerns. On April 24, 1948 she married William A. Rhoads who preceded her in death on November 13, 2012.  

She is survived by their three children, William A. (Bid) Rhoads of South Salem, OH, Sharon (Steve) Weaver of Lakeland, FL and David (Lois) Rhoads of East Liberty, OH, eight grandchildren, William Rhoads, III, Roslynn Liggett, Jesse Rhoads, Brandi Stone, Noel Johnson, Sierra Bosse, Dusty Rhoads, Dawn Shepherdson, seventeen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild on the way and one sister, Shirley Perry of Wilmington, OH. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Gladys, and her brother Johnny.

Phyllis retired after thirty-five years of service with the Kroger Company where she was a cashier and in charge of the floral department. She was a former member of the Greenfield Church of Christ where she was active in many church activities. Phyllis loved to cook for her family, quilting, working in her flowers, playing bingo, working puzzles and she enjoyed her friends at card clubs.  

A private family funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at 1 p.m. in the Greenfield Church of Christ with Jay Fabin officiating. A public graveside service will follow in South Salem Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. Those attending will need to wear a face mask and observe social distancing. The ANDERSON-EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Greenfield is serving the family. The funeral service will be broadcast live on her register book page at the funeral home’s website.
