Phillip E. Hill, 87, of Greenfield, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026, at his home. He was born in Greenfield on Sunday, January 1, 1939, the son of the late Walter Cyril and Mary Lucille Roberts Hill. On June 1, 1968, he married the former Wanda Jennette Howland who preceded him in death on November 4, 2007.
He is survived by his four stepdaughters; Kathryn (Ray) Swanson of Callahan, FL, Debbie (John) Burnett and Christina Gobiel all of Ft Myers, FL and Karen Wagoner of Greenfield, thirteen grandchildren; James, Kimberly, Denise, Diana, Amy, Jennifer, Eric Rowe, April, Jason, Tori, Samy, Mollie and Jaxon, two great-grandchildren; Luke and Ellie, one sister; Carolyn L. Barnhart of Greenfield, nieces and nephews; Duane (Nikki) Barnhart, Susan (Randy) Stewart, Deanna (Mike) Seely and Bruce (Christy) Barnhart, eleven great nieces and nephews and twelve great-great nieces and nephews. Phil was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Sheila Elliott, his brother, Boyd Hill and a brother-in-law, Harold Barnhart.
Phil was a 1958 graduate of the Edward Lee McClain High School. He was a carpenter working with the Hill & Barnhart Construction for twenty years. He retired in 1982.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 7, 2026, in the Anderson-Ebright Funeral Home, Greenfield with Rev. Larry Dillard officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Greenfield Cemetery. Phil's family will visit with friends on Thursday from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.
