Mildred (Jenkins) Tackett, of Chillicothe, was born September 29, 1932, in Possum Hollow, Ross County, Ohio, the first child of Ruby E. and Gertrude Mae (Ramey) Jenkins. She was married to William Junior Tackett on August 8, 1948, and graduated from Southeastern High School in May 1949 as valedictorian of her class. She and Bill were the parents of six children; William Michael (Liza Hilyard) Tackett, twins, Patsy Mae (Kevin) Pancake and Kathy Rae (Thomas) Whitten, Donna Jean (Randy) Cooper, Jeffrey Ervin (Janie Spires) Tacket and Pamela Ann (Sam) Crabtree; eleven grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren, a brother; Lewis Thomas (Joyce) Jenkins, a sister; Linda Karen Wunsch and many nieces and nephews.
Mildred was office manager and a property and casualty agent for 35 years. She earned her Certified Insurance Councilor designation in 1980, was on the Education Committee for Ohio Professional Insurance Agents for three years and was treasurer and education committee chairman of the Scioto Valley Association of Insurance Women. She was a member of Real Joy Community Fellowship, and Southeastern's Early Years Reunion. She enjoyed her family, crocheting and reading, and watching her grandsons and great grandson play baseball
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Lawrence Ray "Bud" Jenkins, a sister, Ruby Mae Dyke, two brothers-in-law, Ron Wunsch and Dan Dyke, her husband of 55 years, Bill (Junior), daughter, Pam, son-in-law, Sam and a grandson, Paul Cooper.
To celebrate Mildred's life, a service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 12 p.m. at Real Joy Community Fellowship, 1954 Hospital Rd., Chillicothe with Pastor Tony Lambert officiating. Following the service, Mildred will be laid to rest beside her husband, Bill, in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Calling hours will be held at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort is serving the family.
