Larry M. Shanks

Larry M. Shanks, 83, of Frankfort, died on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at his home. He was born on October 13, 1942, in Chillicothe, a son of the late Henry C. “Clint” and Ruth E. Freshour Shanks. He married the former Jo Ann Schilling, and she survives.

Also surviving are his four children, Joe (Stephanie) Kelly of Chillicothe, Bob Kelly of South Webster, Larry “Turk” (Sarah) Kelly of Chillicothe, and Michael (Kianna) Kelly of Columbus, twelve grandchildren, Johnny, Kelsey, Braylen, Nykiah, Addison, Keanu, T.T., Connor, Thomas, Chris, McKenzie, and Spencer, one sister, Karen Leeb of Vandalia, and one brother, Danny (Trudy) Shanks of Georgia. He was preceded in death by several siblings and their spouses.

Larry was a 1960 graduate from Northmont High School. He worked several years as an independent contractor and he retired in 2002. He enjoyed being outdoors, spending time with his family, and being around the campfire with his grandkids, watching them cook hot dogs and marshmallows.

In keeping with Larry’s wishes he will be cremated and no formal services will be held. The Ebright Funeral Home, Frankfort, is serving the family. Those who wish to share a memory of Larry may do so by signing his online register book.
