Kathy Sue (Skeeter) Shaffer passed away at 1:13 p.m. on February 2, 2026, at Adena Regional Medical Center.
She was born on June 7, 1953, in Oklahoma to Marion D and Bettye Jo (Gann) Fowler. Kathy spent her early years in Keota and Stigler, Oklahoma, then White Settlement, Texas with her parents and siblings Marilyn Jo, Barbara Ann, Jack, and Boots, who all preceded her in death.
While in high school working as a carhop at the Kreamy Kream in White Settlement, Kathy met her husband Bob. He gave her the nickname Skeeter and from that point, most people didn't know her real name was Kathy. They married August 14, 1971, and began their life in Chillicothe, Ohio. Skeeter owned and operated Hearts Content gift shop in downtown Chillicothe for over fifteen years. She enjoyed serving the many customers who shopped for Yankee Candles, Beanie Babies, and home decor. Skeeter enjoyed crafting of all types, as well as traveling the country with Bob to trapshooting events.
She is survived by her husband Bob and their daughter Kacey Lane (Rob) Kruger. She also leaves behind many brothers and sisters-in-law, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
The family would like to recognize and thank nurses Chris and Jenn from Adena 2N for their exceptional care and compassion during Skeeter's hospitalization.
A private family burial will occur at the convenience of the family.
