Joseph Roger "Joe" Carter

Joseph R. “Joe” Carter, 82, of Frankfort, died on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at his home. He was born on September 17, 1934 in Highland County, the son of the late Charles H. and Helen Brown Carter.

 

Joe is survived by one sister, Ruth Glandon, and one brother, Norman “Doc” (Barb) Carter, all of Frankfort, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Jane Smith, and four brothers, Charles, Deane, Robert and John Carter.

 

Joe was a 1952 graduate of Frankfort High School. After high school, Joe was offered the opportunity to take a test which he passed and worked at Mead Research. Joe preferred to work outside, so he left Mead Research and went to work as a farmer, and bus driver for Frankfort and Adena schools. He also worked as a cattle hauler for Union Stockyards. Joe attended First Wesleyan Church, Chillicothe and served as scorekeeper for Frankfort and Adena basketball for more than 20 years.

 

A funeral service will be held at 11a.m. on Monday, January 9, 2017 in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort with his nephews, Dr. Mark Smith and Mike Smith, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Friends may visit with the Carter family at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 to 8p.m..
