John Dickey "Pete" Thompson 79 of Bainbridge passed from this life Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at his home. He was born March 4, 1946, in Ross County the son of the late Elwin "Rock" and Mabel (Anderson) Thompson. On February 22, 1977, he married the former Phyllis Dozer, who survives.
He is survived by two sons Nathan Thompson and Ryan Graves; four grandchildren Tyler (Alex), Natasha and Auroa Thompson, Katlyn (Tyler) Kirkpatrick; four great grandchildren Nova and Lenyx Thompson, Kyler and Payslee Kirkpatrick; sister Alice Black; sisters-in-law, Ginny and Shirley Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Pete was preceded in death by a daughter Lori Graves; four sisters, Irene (Luther) Griffith, Pauline Thompson, Mary Lou (Henry) White and Helen (Harold) Weibenga; two brothers, Paul and Stacy Thompson and father and mother-in-law Ralph and Esther Dozer.
Pete was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and member of the American Legion Post 14 of Bainbridge. He retired from Mead after 42 years. Pete enjoyed gardening, hobby farming and coon hunting.
Graveside services will be held 11 am Tuesday, February 3, 2026, in the Twin Township Cemetery with Pastor Sammie Cooper officiating and military honors by the Ross County Honor Guard.
