John Appleseed Chapman

A TRIBUTE TO JOHN APPLESEED CHAPMAN

The reasons for this tribute are many, and each of his accomplishments are great.

He was a graduate of Pioneer School in Chillicothe, Ohio where he participated in the special Olympics and later received many trophies and awards. He met many famous movie stars and Presidents Nixon, Johnson and Kennedy.

John was an Ohio State Buckeye and Florida State fan. His knowledge of sports was like a sports library.

He played the triangle in the Orange City Library in Florida, where his adopted dad Myron “Ed” Chapman played tuba. John also played the triangle and other supportive rhythm instruments (cowbell, woodblock, bells) in the Orange City Orchestra.

His quiet time was reading history books, especially about Indians and the Civil War.

He was lucky to have the opportunity to be an associate member of the Florida American Legion the SAL (Sons of the American Legion) where he carried the flags in the patriotic parades, the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) and the FRA (Fleet Reserve Association) where I was a member after retiring as a Navy Musician.

John’s love of the culinary arts was excellent to say the least. I always had a home cooked meal.

He also loved music. Especially Loretta Lynn and Do-Waps.

John never met a stranger and he brought joy to all he knew.

To John Appleseed
Love your Dad       Ed Chapman
