Joann King

Joann King, 84, of Frankfort, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at National Church Residence, Chillicothe. She was born in Ross County, on November 19, 1941, a daughter of the late Herbert and Emma M. Ford Colburn. Joann was married to Jerry Lee King, Sr. for sixty-five years, until his death on February 7, 2025.

She is survived by their five children, Patty (Roger) Draise of Londonderry, Wayne (Kayleen) King of Galloway, Rebecca King of Groveport, Jerry (Valerie) King, Jr. of Hilliard, and Kenneth King of Canton, Georgia, as well as numerous grand and great-grandchildren, and one sister Norma Williams of Frankfort. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jerry Lee King, Sr., three sisters, Nellie Zimmerman, Albie Gallaugher, Linda Sue Rawlings, and two brothers, Floyd Colburn and Herbert Colburn.

Joann lived a life devoted to faith, family, and love. She enjoyed attending the Frankfort Baptist Church, where she was a member. She enjoyed making beautiful crafts and traveling to local craft shows. One of her greatest joys was providing childcare in her home. She loved the children as if they were her own. Above all Joann loved her family. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her warm hugs, and generous heart.

A funeral for Joann will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, in the Frankfort Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Winks officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Family and friends may visit with Joann's family at the Frankfort Baptist Church on Thursday, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
