Jacqueline L. Steele

Jacqueline “Jackie” L. Steele 69 of South Salem passed away Monday, July 14, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born November 6, 1955, at Nellis Air Force Base Hospital, Las Vegas, Nevada to James C. and Ruth (Cates) Stafford.

On February 3, 1975, she married Marshall F. “Rusty” Steele, who survives. Rusty, her loving husband of 50 years cared for Jackie and was always by her side, especially during the past few months during her illness.

Jackie is also survived by her mother Ruth; daughters Misty Steele (Cyle Long) and Shae Steele (Zach Confer); grandchildren Felicia Steele (Nate Stewart), Daisy, Jazen and Anna; great grandchildren Addyson and Link; sisters Teresa (Kevin) Leonard and Laura Walley; sister-in-law Vicki Stafford; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; close friend Leeanne Yoakum; and her four-legged children Rosie, Taz, Mr. Pearl and One-eyed Jack.

Jackie was preceded in death by her father Jim; brother Rick L. Stafford and brother-in-law Terry Walley.

She was a loving down-to-earth person who cared deeply for her family. Jackie was a self-taught herbalist and artist who enjoyed making jewelry, teddy bears, quilts and just about anything else she took a notion to do.

There will be a celebration of Jackie’s life 5-7 pm on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the Smith-Moore-Ebright Funeral Home of Bainbridge with a brief service to follow with Rev. Rich Cottrill officiating. Those who wish may sign Jackie’s online register book at www.ebrightfuneralhome.com
