Dennis W. Orner, 81, of Greenfield, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024. He was born in Greenfield on Tuesday, October 27, 1942, a son of the late Rev. Raymond G. and Geneva C. Griffith Orner.
Dennis's early career in photography was marked by a passion that would later become a beloved hobby. As an entrepreneur, he brought innovation to the design and photography industries, leaving a lasting impact. Throughout his career, Dennis was known for his creativity and drive, constantly pushing the boundaries of what was possible in his field.
He raised his two sons, Zak and Aaron, in Dallas, Texas, instilling in them the values of hard work and dedication. After many years, Dennis and his wife Carol returned to Ohio, where he chose to retire. Retirement, however, didn't slow him down. Dennis was always busy remodeling his homes. He never lived in a home he didn't make considerable upgrades to, from turn-of-the-century houses to newly constructed homes, always ripping out and rebuilding to make them his own.
Perhaps Dennis was never more at home than when he was on his computer. Whether he was designing, retouching photos, planning, updating, or researching, he was always immersed in his digital projects. He never met a computer gadget he couldn't live without, though he struggled with remembering his passwords.
In addition to his own granddaughter, Madeleine Orner, Dennis was a grandparent figure to his younger brother Dan's children—Austin, Carlee, Will, and Ericka. The four never met their grandparents, and Dennis was honored to step into the role, providing them with the love and guidance of a grandfather.
Dennis was a graduate of Washington Senior High School and earned his bachelor's degree from Trevecca Nazarene College. His career in commercial art and photography was distinguished by his ability to blend technical skill with artistic vision.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Carol Cokonougher Orner; his sons, Zak Orner of Greenfield and Aaron (Cassie) Orner of Hamilton, TX; his granddaughter, Madeleine Orner of Galveston, TX; his sister, Denise Meredith of Greenfield; and his brothers, Daryl (Karen) Orner of Greenville, OH, David (Sharon) Orner of Miamisburg, and Dan (Robyn) Orner of Naples, FL. He was preceded in death by his son, Tyler Orner.
In keeping with his wishes, no services will be held. The Anderson-Ebright Funeral Home in Greenfield is serving the family.
