David E. Edgington

David E. Edgington, 84, of Frankfort, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at his home. He was born on January 18, 1942, in Frankfort a son of the late Carl Wilson and Clara Elizabeth Bay Edgington. On March 9, 1985, he married the former Barbara McDonald, and she preceded him in death on June 14, 2023.

He is survived by two children; Steven (Patti) Loel, Brenda (Jim) George, both of Chillicothe, five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Barbara, one sister, Virginia E. Aupperle, and two brothers, Charles and Vernon Edgington.

David was a 1960 graduate from Paint Valley High School. While in school he was class reporter for FFA where he also went to the FFA state convention. He also sang in the school mixed chorus. David was a United Stares Air Force veteran. He worked as a self-employed contractor working on many local projects including his own home and his daughter’s home. He also owned and ran his own gravel pit. He was a charter member of the Frankfort Lions Club, the Frankfort Historical Society, the Paint Valley Antique Machinery Club, and NRA.

David enjoyed being outdoors. He especially enjoyed growing sweet corn, melons, and zucchini, many of which he would share with his family and friends. David also enjoyed mushroom hunting. You could always tell when his hunt was successful because you could hear his happy shouts of “oh my!”

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2026, in the Ebright Funeral Home, Frankfort with Pastor Neil Foster officiating. Following the service, David will be laid to rest beside his wife, Barbara Edgington, in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Family and friends may visit with David’s family on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to: Frankfort Historical Society, PO Box 117, Frankfort, OH 45628, Ross County Humane Society, 2308A Lick Run Rd, Chillicothe, OH 45601, or Frankfort American Legion, PO Box 4, Frankfort, OH 45628.
