Carl E. Shoemaker, 88, of Frankfort, passed away on Saturday morning, March 21, 2026, at Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe. He was born in Roxabel on Saturday, November 25, 1937, a son of the late Howard and Irene E. Houser Shoemaker. On July 10, 1965, Carl married the former Ella L. Fisher who preceded him in death on September 7, 2000.
Carl and Ella helped raise two special grandchildren, Kimberly Angel Rinehart who survives and Phillip "Mojo" Rinehart, who preceded him in death. Carl is survived by one sister; Debra Miller of Frankfort, three brothers: Dan Shoemaker of Waverly, Don Shoemaker of West Portsmouth, Ohio and Seth (Sue) Shoemaker of Greenfield. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Carl was preceded in death by one sister; Donna Seymour.
For forty years, Carl worked for Concord Township. It's kind of difficult to describe Carl's actual job for the township because he was the man who plowed snow on the township roads, dug graves at Greenlawn Cemetery, mowed and patched the township roads and the list keeps going. Carl was a hard-working man always ready to lend a hand when needed. When he wasn't working, he and Ella enjoyed the times they spent camping at Frosties at Deer Creek Lake.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort with Pastor Dan Bennett officiating. Following the service, Carl will be laid to rest with his wife, Ella. The family will visit with friends at the Ebright Funeral Home on Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
