Emblem

Bobby W. Ravenscraft, 97, of Acworth, Georgia, formerly of Greenfield, passed from this life on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Cameron Hall Care Center of Canton. He was born at Cynthiana, Kentucky on Sunday, June 2, 1929, a son of the late Walton and Violet Palmer Ravenscraft. On July 15, 1953, Bob married the former Lotte Weishaupt and together they shared the many adventures of their life together until her passing on October 9, 2003.

Bob and Lotte were blessed with two children; one son; Phillip (Cynthia) of Acworth, GA and one daughter; Sonya (David) of Xenia, OH. He is also blessed with six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his 3 brothers and 5 sisters.

He was a 1947 graduate of the Edward Lee McClain High School. He was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean War. After returning home from serving his country, Bob worked with Strueve Funeral Home for several years, assisting Bernice, following the sudden death of her husband, Albert. As Bob said, with a young family to raise, he became a mail carrier at the Greenfield Post Office, and he worked with many of his good friends until he retired in 1989.

After retirement Bob was then able to enjoy his favorite past times. He was a private pilot and he loved to fly. Bob was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his time at the water's edge. It was perhaps on these fishing trips; he thought of one thing that was missing in Greenfield. Many veterans couldn't have proper military honors accorded at their gravesite. Along with many of his fellow veterans, they formed the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield so that veterans could be accorded proper honors at their death. Bob was still performing these duties until he moved to Acworth, Georgia to live with his son. One other form of devotion he performed was traveling to his daughter's home to assist in her care. Here he extended love that only a father could share.

Bobby was born in Cynthiana, Kentucky, but his hometown of Greenfield was  close to his heart. Before moving to Georgia, he loved to walk all over Greenfield visiting friends at various businesses and trading favorite jokes. He was a humble man that will be missed by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, at 1 p.m. in the ANDERSON-EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Greenfield with Rev. Roger Newkirk officiating. Following the service, Bob will be laid to rest beside his wife, Lotte, in Greenfield Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by friends of the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield as well as the U.S. Army. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 6 pm with a Concerned Veterans Appreciation service at 6pm.
