Betty J. Haynes, 96, of Frankfort, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, into the gates of Heaven to reunite with her family and friends that passed before. Betty received Christ as her Savior in August 1960 as her late husband did in 1961. She was born in Chillicothe to Joseph and Margaret Graves Hester on August 28, 1929. On March 4, 1950, she married the love of her life, Bob Haynes, who she first met in the 8th grade at Frankfort School. On February 4, 1960, Bob and Betty were blessed with a son, Eric, who preceded them on March 24, 1984, as the result of an auto accident. Bob preceded Betty on October 14, 2005, as the result of complications from a stroke suffered on his birthday, June 11, 2005.
Betty was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, class of 1947. After decided in her freshman year to be a secretary, Betty held may office positions; including, among others, Mead Paper, Kenworth, Domino's Pizza, Disbursing Office of Camp Pendleton CA while Bob was in the Marines and also Pleasant Valley Sewer where her last position there was Board Clerk for 23 years, retiring in May 2011. Betty did extensive research of both sides of hers and Bob's family. Betty and Bob loved to travel to many places, including Europe to visit missionaries. Betty was an avid fan of OSU Men's Basketball and the Cincinnati Reds, sometimes playing armchair coach. Betty was a long-time member of the Frankfort Senior Center where she enjoyed fellowship with many good friends.
In addition to her parents, husband, and son, Betty was preceded by her mother and father-in-law, John and Alpha Haynes, two infant brothers, Wm. & Joe Jr., and Jack Hester, brother Robert Hester, and sister Marilyn Lemaster, sisters-in-law Martha McCollister, Betty Estep, and brothers-in-law Lawrence Estep, Bob Butler, Darrel Kinnamon, Kenneth McCollister, and Wm. Kuskowski, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Ann Haynes.
Betty is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, sisters-in-law Jane Hester of Frankfort, Mary Butler of Chillicothe, and Phoebe Kuskowski of Tennessee. She leaves many special friends in the congregation of Faith Chapel of Chillicothe where she and Bob were active members, Betty as past treasurer and secretary and Bob a deacon and song leader. Betty felt she had a large extended family as a result of being secretary of the Mead Retiree's Club for a number of years.
A funeral service will be held at Faith Chapel of Chillicothe in Pleasant Valley at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, with Pastor Thomas Kramer officiating. Following the service Betty will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort, besides her beloved husband, Bob, and son, Eric. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. on Monday in the Ebright Funeral Home, Frankfort, as well as one hour before the service begins at the church on Tuesday.
