John Wayne Fuller

John Wayne Fuller, 81, of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Wednesday afternoon, June 21, 2017 at his home. He was born on Janaury 1, 1936, in Columbus, Ohio. John was the foster son of Sam and Emma Alexander from the early age of 18 months until the age of 15. John became the adopted son of Harold and Marguerite Fuller. The foster and adopted parents molded John in the way he lived his life. John was eternally grateful for the fine parents that raised him and who have all preceded him in death.

 

After a failed early marriage, John met the love of his life while at the Ohio State University Hospital. She was the former Marcine Milem and they were married in July of 1969. John and Marcine shared forty eight years of wedded bliss.

 

In addition to his wife, John is survived by two sons; John W. Fuller, II and his wife Priscilla of South Salem and Billy Harold Fuller of Chillicothe, six grandchildren; Elizabeth Jo West, John Dustin Fuller, Alison Fuller, Emma Alexis Fuller, Hunter Dewane Fuller, Chelsea Irvin, five great grandchildren, one sister, Connie (Larry) Hill of Frankfort, his special lifetime friends; Sonny Fannin, John Strouse and the Buckskin High School class of 1958.  

 

John received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Ohio University in 1957. He also completed Graduate classes at Ohio University and the Ohio State University. John was a retired teacher having taught for thirty years at Buckskin High School and Chillicothe High School. He also owned and operated Fuller’s Grocery for nearly 20 years. John also retired from Sears Home Improvements. He worked at the Farmer’s Market for five years. John was also an enrolled Tax agent for forty years as well as a bookkeeper. John also was a farmer for nine years. For fifteen years, John delivered the Columbus Dispatch and the Chillicothe Gazette.

 

During his teaching career, John served as President of the Chillicothe Education Association. He was a member of the Ross County Retired Teachers Association. John served as Clerk for the Union Township Trustees for five years. He was a member of the Frankfort Lodge 309 and Bainbridge Lodge 196 Free and Accepted Masons.

 

In keeping with John’s wishes he will be cremated and no calling hours or funeral service will be held. John wanted his cremains placed in the ground and a tree planted with his urn.
